Shengjin Pagoda is located on the east side of Shengjinta Street, Xihu District, Nanchang City, outside the Jinxian Gate of the original ancient city. It was built in the Tang Tianyou period (904—907). Legend has it that when the tower was built, the only monk who dug the ground received an iron letter with four turns of gold rope and three ancient swords (engraved with "drive the wind", "fire suppression", and "Jianjiao" respectively. "Information") There is also a golden bottle containing three hundred relics, and the Shengjin Pagoda is named after it.
Shengjin Pagoda is a typical brick-wood structure pavilion tower in the south of the Yangtze River. The tower is 50.86 meters high and has seven floors and eight sides. Each floor of the tower body is equipped with four-sided real door openings and four-sided false door openings. The real and fake door openings on each floor are staggered up and down, and the door openings are different in the form of each floor. The first floor is the Moon Gate: the second and third floors are the Ruyi Gate; the fourth to seventh floors are the Flame Gate. Three arches are gathered in one tower. This practice is rare. The height of the pagoda is 3 meters, and the maximum diameter is 1.75 meters. The size of each part of the pagoda is well-proportioned, and the lines are soft and smooth. Among the many private pagodas in the south of the Yangtze River, such a golden pagoda is also rare.
Shengjin Pagoda layer upon layer “the cornices are raised and the copper bells are hanging high". When Wu Guolun, a famous writer in the Ming Dynasty, visited the Shengjin Pagoda, he once chanted that “Double tree shadows return to the plains at dusk, and a hundred bells pierced the river cold”. When the Shengjin Tower wind chimes were repaired in 2000, according to the ancient chime casting method, they were set up with one scale on each floor, seven layers of seven tones, and a breeze blowing, which was pleasant to the ears.
