Nanchang Museum was founded in 1984. It is a comprehensive topographical museum. It mainly collects historical relics that can represent and reflect the long history and culture of Nanchang and Jiangxi. At the same time, it is dedicated to the research and promotion of the history and culture of Nanchang. The museum currently houses various precious cultural relics such as ceramics, bronzes, coins, stoneware, jadeware, lacquerware, and woodware, among which the Hongzhou kiln celadon is the most distinctive.
There are currently 20 staff in Nanchang Museum, including 15 professional and technical personnel, which provides a strong technical backing for the research of Nanchang's history, culture and cultural relics, and the development of Nanchang's museum business.
Nanchang Museum currently has two exhibition halls, which are located in Guanying Tower and Shengjin Pagoda Thousand Buddha Temple. The exhibition hall on the first floor of Guanying City Tower is equipped with the basic display of "Two Thousand Years of History of Nanchang"; Shengjin Pagoda Thousand-Buddha Temple has "Photo Exhibition of Cultural Relics Unearthed from Shengjin Pagoda Palace and Pagoda", "Photo Exhibition of Chinese Righteous Qi Songs" and so on. In order to satisfy the desire of visitors to learn about history and cultural relics, Nanchang Museum will actively carry out inter-library exchanges with other museums and hold various thematic temporary exhibitions.
